TFCO in the UK
Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO-UK) was designed and developed by Dr Patricia Chamberlain and colleagues at the Oregon Social Learning Centre in the USA over the course of 30 years. This evidence based licensed programme offers an intensive treatment intervention. A strong evidence base for this model working for children with a variety of difficulties has been established.
The TFCO-UK programme, funded by the Department for Education, has now been running in England for over ten years. The UK evidence base for the model is becoming more established. There are three TFCO-UK programmes working across three age groups that have been established in the UK - TFCO-UK-A (Adolescent), TFCO-UK-C (Children) and TFCO-UK-P (Prevention).
The NIS continues to develop new TFCO partnerships in the UK, and support organisations in the identification of funding sources.
